I finally did it. After enough people asking me "Where did you get that" and then responding with "That is NOT Forever 21" whilst looking incredulous, I've decided to hand over my secrets to shopping the fast fashion retailer.
While I don't think F21 is completely ethical, I must admit having access to major trends at a minor price point really helps a young professional living in an expensive city like me. Someday I'd like to have more sustainable companies occupy the most room in my closet, but for now I just have to accept the fact that my adorable, $20 top will fall apart in the next year.
So what makes me any different from other bloggers already doing this who probably know more about fashion and have this category covered? Well, most importantly, the girls I've seen do it just don't have the same taste as I do. And a lot of my friends have expressed frustration to me that they themselves can't find good picks from F21 because it's simply too big and too overwhelming. I get asked about once a week where an item I'm wearing is from, and 90% of the time its from F21 or Urban Outfitters. It's possible to dress from these stores professionally, without looking like you scored that chic blouse for less than $15.
So, this month I pulled a few selects that I wouldn't mind finding under the Christmas tree. Brighter neutrals are my favorites in the winter - I actually wear more this time of year and more black during the summer, I guess because I like to go opposite of whatever the weather is doing.
Please note that I have not purchased all of these items (though I did order the mules!) and so cannot vouch for their quality, comfort, or size. However, I would highly recommend reading the reviews other customers have left. I have success with my online purchases from F21 about 90% of the time. I am convinced that their online store is much more curated and their online-only choices are higher quality than some of the items found in-store.
I'm still working out what these types of posts will look like and if they fit with where I want to take this blog, so please comment below with any feedback! What do you want to see more of? I'm taking feedback seriously as I look to really grow this blog in 2017.
