Hello, hello! In the very first part of a new series, I've decided I'm going to attempt to share *weekly updates on what I made during the week, and some favorite items or links I've discovered. (*see footnote about what weekly might actually mean)
I've found that Sundays are the perfect time to look back on the week before as I prep for a new one. It's the only day R and I might have a bit of down time - usually we head to church in the city, then we come back and try to tidy up, meal prep (sort of), and relax. I try to squeeze in an extra cup of coffee, put on my sweats as early in the day as I can, and plot my crafting opportunities for the week to come.
Today is the first rainy day we've had all autumn and we're LOVING it. R immediately put on his coziest sweatshirt and beanie and skipped out the door to go buy hot chocolate and ingredients to make homemade granola. I've got all the candles I own burning and my pumpkin spice coffee in hand.
Real life work has been pretty busy for me the last few weeks, so as all the pumpkin DIYs were popping up, I had to avert my eyes lest I find myself attempting difficult, time consuming pumpkin decorating shenanigans. However, I'm loving that more people are opting to paint their pumpkins instead of carve them - it's less messy, easier, and they don't rot within a week! I rounded up some leftover acrylic paint I had in the house - probably from our wedding - and within an hour had done the first coat on three little pumpkin friends. I opted for matte black, white, and pale pink with a copper accent to easily match the year round decor I've got going in the apartment. I also got a lot of inquiries about the OTK boots I'm wearing in the photo - so there ya go.
I also finally got going on the gallery wall I've been planning for our room. I'm not a frame sort of person - I like creative ways of mounting stuff on the walls. These amazing 16x20 prints come in sets of two for only $30 from the folks over at socialprintstudio. I got the gold washi tape at target in the dollar section, same with the oversized gold paperclips. Took me all of 10 seconds to slap it on the wall, and I love it so much more than chunky frames.
I think you will quickly catch on to the fact that I am completely unable to go to Target without picking at least ONE thing from the dollar section. It's a problem. I scored a bunch of these canvases a while back and have been meaning to do something with them, so on like Wednesday night when R was at work I got out more of the infinite amount of black paint I seem to have collected and went to town. I do not recommend painting on your nice dining room table unless its the same color as your paint. The lettering was done with a white acrylic paint pen. As an aside, I will be doing my own matte black nail polish the entire month of October, because obviously. Did you know Sally Hansen makes the perfect matte top coat? You can do this to any color. It's amazing.
Okay, I cheated - this one is from several weeks ago, at the beginning of the month. But how could I not share? I love updating the look of my bar cart every month, to reflect the new seasons. These florals were DIYed by my bestie for my birthday in September (pretty sure it's all from Trader Joes). I got out my moscow mule mugs and marble dip bowls and scored these adorable napkins at Target.
What did you make this week? Comment if you've got a good one!
